The increment is in addition to another sh1.2b, he said, the university council has approved for staff projects.

“The university council is keen on improving your benefits. There is a team working to make sure that every staff member benefits from the sh1.2b,” Senyonyi said.

He made the remarks during the University’s end of year party and Christmas carols held at Nkoyoyo Hall at the main campus in Mukono.

The event started at around 9:00am with staff competing in Christian music, dance and drama. They competed according to the five core value teams of the university which include Christ Centeredness, Diligence, Integrity, Stewardship and Servanthood.

Royals came fourth with 81.5% and Stewardship followed with 81%.

“Considering the fact that the teams prepared these activities with little assistance from professionals, the performances were very good,” Alex Karungi, the music director of Greenhill Academy and one of the judges said.

A second judge, Isaac Munoobi, a teacher of Music explained that the teams could even do better in the next completion. The best team was given a bull in addition to envelopes containing an unspecified amounts of money which were given out to all the five teams.

The event ended with a sumptuous meal and raw food items given to staff for Christmas.
