Tragedy struck Yesu Mulunji Hostel when the lifeless body of Lillian Kampi, a second year nursing student (BNS2) at Uganda Christian University, was found in her room on September 9. Kampi’s body was discovered after fellow hostel residents reported a foul smell emanating from her room, prompting the management to break in and investigate.
The deputy chief of security, Kainamura stated that when the security team entered her room, they found her body and several bottles of herbal medicine, which were immediately seized by police as part of their investigation to determine the cause of death. He also said that the police medical team took her body for postmortem.
According to the Director of Student Affairs, Ms Pamela Tumwebaze, Kampi’s body was found in a decomposed state and they think that she had died about three days ago.
Kampi has been described by peers as a person who was a hardworking and dedicated but reserved student.
“Kampi was reserved but she was God-fearing and we would always attend community worship together. It’s such a big loss and shame losing her,” Patricia Kansiime, a student who graduated earlier this year and a friend of hers, shared on her status.
