Students and staff are ecstatic as Uganda Christian University (UCU) prepares to open its doors for the new academic year in 2024. It’s an exciting time, and everyone is looking forward to what’s next. Aulah Najjuuka took a look at the students hopes and expectations as they began another chapter in their scholastic path.

    Betty Takali ( LLB 1)

I expect to get good lecturers—people that are more parental than teachers compared to those we had—so that we are able to interact with them even out of class. I expect a better conducive learning environment, improvements in the food, and socially, I expect to get friends since I have gotten used to the place, unlike when I was new and I didn’t know anyone.

Joy Kigozi ,Mp residents Female( LLB3)

As a student I hope to better my grades and reduces on my distractions because last semester,I had campaigns and school so my attention was divided.I hope I focus more on my books this year and as a leader, I expect the students to work hand in hand with us because they voted us into office to work for them but we can’t do that without them interacting and sharing with us.

    Natasha Alinda (BSAF3)

Since I’m in my final semester I hope to successfully graduate in July and successfully start on my ACCA ( Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)  and get done with it. Having been Vice President for the School of Business,I would like to tap into  more leadership spaces so as to get more leadership training.

    Sarah Cheptoyek ( LLB 3 )

I hope for excellence , growth discipline wise and academically , I hope the students and lecturers  are proactive in working together so as to get better grades and I expect closer interaction with the lecturers and tutors  more than what has been offered before .

    Paul Kaweesi (BBA 2)

perform well in the past exams I did last year and join third year on a clean slate with no retakes following me up , draw closer  to God , as a Christian I hope and expect to see growth in my  spiritual life and carry out more ministry and as a family man I hope to be a better father to my little two girls .

    Creed Brian

I expect and hope to better my relationship with God because I feel like I was falling astray from his word as a Christian. With his grace I will better my grades.I would love to venture into sports because UCU as a university it gives chance to many kinds of sports.

Ronnie Awany (Teaching assistant graphic and design mass comm faculty)

Career wise after I graduate with my masters, I want to pursue a pgd( post graduate degree) in renewable energy so I can contextualise my practice in the field of communication.I hope for more opportunities from my employers and through those I will enhance my  skills more and as an administrator and staff I expect that the students  continue setting the bar high and carry on discipline that reflect on our values .

Lucy Ajolo ( Security Guard Sabitti Hall  UCU )

First and foremost as a new employee at the university I hope to sign my employment contract , I expect the students and staff to work hand in hand to make this a successful academic year.
