As Uganda Cranes intensify preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, they are set to camp in North Africa for four days.
The camp will be held before the clash against Algeria to get used to the harsh weather conditions in the northern part of Africa.
Micho opened up on the matter: “For now, I have to confirm one trip to North Africa where we are going to adapt and acclimatize to the weather.”
“It will be a four-day camp as we continue preparing ourselves because we know what the match against Algeria is.”
According to the Serbian, the camp will be a double preparation for both games against Algeria and Niger, so it will help the team bond for a better show on the big stage.
The Uganda Cranes were pitted in Group F against Algeria, Niger, and neighboring Tanzania.
Uganda will kick start the journey as they play away to Algeria on June 4 before they host Niger four days later at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The last time Uganda met Algeria was in 1999, though they lost to Tanzania on the road to the 2019 AFCON.
The last competitive game against Niger was in 2008, when David Obua netted a hat trick, before Uganda later lost to the Western African nation 2-1 in a friendly that happened in 2018.
The yet to be qualified teams are to sieve and confirm the teams that will take part in the 2023 AFCON edition that will be hosted in Ivory Coast.
