Usher Bennets Lewis has been declared the winner of the 2024-2025 Uganda Christian University-Bishop Barham University College (UCU-BBUC) Guild Elections, edging out his closest rival, Derrick Akampa, by a slim margin of just 14 votes. Speaking at a workshop held at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Paula Iragaba, a research scientist with the Cassava Breeding Program at the National Crop Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI), explained how this innovative approach is transforming agricultural research in Uganda. The Lango students have won the annual Cultural Gala competition at Uganda Christian University (UCU), with a total of 404 points. The annual celebration, which promotes UCU’s rich cultural diversity, attracted students from many tribes and areas of Uganda.
Early goals from Cathy Nassimbwa in the 10th minute and Jovia Nakagolo eight minutes later secured the victory for the Lady Cardinals with a wonderful finish after a dribble passed the goalkeeper.
Carol Ikot, a player for the Lady Doves, attributed their loss to limited training time and strategic challenges, as many team members are based in Kampala for internships, making it difficult to practice together. “We didn’t train as a team for that game because traveling is expensive, and we struggled to strategize against KCCA,” Ikot explained.
