In 2002, when  the  UCU Department of Mass Communication started with only one undergraduate degree program, it was not easy to envisage this level of transformation. At that time, 21 years ago, the department had  no academic staff with a PhD.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) has launched a PHD programme in the fields of journalism, media, communication, and business ministration. This followed the accreditation of the programmes on August 21, 2023, by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), a board gazetted by the Ugandan government to monitor services provided by institutions of higher learning.

Kenneth Kabinga Musasizi, a lecturer and software engineer at Uganda Christian University (UCU), chose to get a masters degree to expand his proficiency in software engineering and management of enterprise ICT infrastructure.

The Uganda Christian University (UCU) vice chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Aaron Mushenyezi, has inaugurated the third edition of the annual Guild Run. The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Canons have stormed their way into the semi-finals of the highly anticipated Uganda National Basketball League playoffs in 2023. Their remarkable journey continued with a resounding triumph as they outclassed the Kampala Capital City Authority Leopards, securing a commanding victory with a final score of 93-61. The Lady Canons showcased their basketball prowess and determination at the prestigious Lugogo indoor arena, leaving no doubt about their readiness to contend for the league title. With this impressive win, they have not only advanced but also sent a powerful message to their competitors that they are a force to be reckoned with in the quest for championship glory.

Since the Global5K (blame it on Covid) hasn’t been an annual event (having been held 6 times in the last 9 years), here is my brief “origin” story of the Global5K that was my first Uganda Partners contribution when our family moved from the Uganda Christian University (UCU),  Mukono campus, back to the United States.
