BSU bows out after fourth straight loss

The Bishop Stuart University netball team has today suffered a fourth straight loss at the hands of Gulu University, who ran amok, putting 116 points past BSU. The Mbarara-based side managed to garner a mere 62 points. This left a staggering margin of 52 points.

The BSU side has had a tough time since day one, after it was handed a baptism of fire at the hands of the hosts, Uganda Christian University. The inaugural game left the team from Mbarara trailing the UCU Angels by 60 points.

Their play didn’t change much in their next successive games against Makerere University Business School and Kampala University, which they lost in a similar fashion.

Today’s encounter was similar to the first game, as it looked more like a training session than a competitive game. This has left many questioning BSU’s competitive capabilities.

Damba Jamil Jariata, BSU’s coach, believes that the losses have come owing to his team’s inexperience in these games.

“This is the first time for all the girls that I traveled with to be part of the inter-university competitions. This inexperience has been a challenge, but for us, we treat it as a learning opportunity,” said Damba.

Damba believes that with continued exposure and more training, his team will grow from strength to strength and will be very competitive.

“The advantage we have as a university is that these girls are still in their first year, and so the moment we go back and receive enough backing from the university, we won’t sleep; we will train and ensure we are better,” said Damba, who was rather hopeful.

KU shows MUST, whose boss is in the business.

Kampala University outplayed Mbarara University Business School by 172 to 84 points in today’s hotly contested game.

KU dominated the game right from the first quarter, where they registered 22 to MUBS’ 8 points. They added another 36 points in the second quarter and another 51 in the third quarter to make it 109 points.

MUST never looked like a side to recover in the last quarter, and KU sealed the deal with an impressive 63 points, taking the total tally to 172 points.
