Freddie Mercury “A concert is not a live rendition of our album. It’s a theatrical event. I have fun with my clothes onstage; it’s not a concert you’re seeing, it’s a fashion show.” The Uganda Christian University (UCU), department of Visual Arts and Design, organised a fashion concert led by students who displayed their artistic creation through clothes along the runway in Nkoyoiyo Hall. Yasiri J. Kasango and Andrew Bugembe captured some moments.

“People are lonely because they build walls, instead of bridges.” That timeless quote, by Joseph Fort Newton, an American 20th Century priest and author, is relevant today and fitting to social and networking opportunities at universities.  

When one travels to new lands, they always leave a part of them at home. It is that part of them that has a tendency of evoking homesickness. In Yemi Alade’s song, Africa, the Nigerian singer could not have put this feeling of the allure of one’s home clearer than she did in the lyrics:

I was a member of a cultural dance group named Ekubo (The Way) when I was younger. I learnt to play traditional instruments, particularly the ‘Adungu,’ often known as the African Harp in English, from this troop. When the unit disbanded, they had already inspired and shown me the way forward.

What originally seemed an adversity has turned out to be a blessing for Brian Kabogozza, a third-year student of Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication. Kabogozza did not have the tuition for his final year studies at Uganda Christian University (UCU). As such he asked the university if he could sit out studies in 2022.

Byaruhanga and his classmates were faced with a daunting task when they were tasked with creating a group movie project. The project required a lot of time, effort, and resources, which put a strain on everyone involved. Despite the challenges, the team was determined to produce a high-quality film that would showcase their talents and creativity.
