Eid Mubarak closes the holy Islamic month of fasting on the Muslim calendar. On that day, Muslims celebrated with families and friends, shared meals, gave charity and celebrated their achievements.
When Samantha Mwesigye took over power and became the 27th Guild President of the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Guild Government, she laid out a four-point manifesto targeting accountability, student life, tuition and security.
Missing an exam is one of the most unsettling experiences a student can face. For me, it wasn’t just a test; it was the final step in a journey I had planned meticulously like any other student would. I had always set educational goals for myself, worked hard to achieve them on time, and was confident as I began my final semester of Uganda Christian University’s Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication programme.
On February 26th, 2022, an historic event took place at Bishop Senior Secondary School Mukono’s playground as Rev. Canon Enos Kitto Kagodo was installed as the fifth Bishop of Mukono Diocese. Since her father’s passing, Namiiro’s mother has been the sole breadwinner, making it difficult for her to support Namiiro and her siblings. Although Namiiro had no hopes of continuing her education after completing her senior year vacation due to her humble background, her mother encouraged her to enroll in university, and they searched for possible ways to pay for her tuition.
By January 28, 2023, Uganda had registered 170,328 cases of coronavirus. Of those, 3,630 had died. Florence Bwanika is part of that tragic statistic. Bwanika, a renowned veterinary doctor and academic, succumbed to the pandemic on January 17, 2021, the time Uganda was just shaking itself off the first wave of the pandemic. Uganda later had the second wave of the virus, which was more deadly.
Dr. Lutakome Joseph is an amiable man. By the end of the day, not even the stress after a long day’s work will show on the face of the specialist physician who works at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala.
