As the UCU Lady Cardinals are gearing up for their match against Isra Academy in the FUFA Women’s Cup, Coach Christian Magoba has announced a change in the team’s captaincy.
Catherine Nakiridde will now lead the team as the captain, taking over from Shadia Nankya. Nankya had previously stepped in for the team’s legendary player, Hasifa Nassuna.
Supporting Nakiridde will be Nicole Atimaku as the first vice captain and Peace Aloyo as the second vice captain.
“Just so you know, I have relieved the head captain of her duties for reasons I won’t stress here, and in the meantime, Catherine Nakiride will be our head captain, assisted by Atimaku Nicole and Aloyo Peace, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively.”
The UCU Lady Cardinals, currently fourth in the FUFA Women’s Super League, are looking forward to a strong start in their first FUFA Women’s Cup game of the season.
2018 was the last year UCU won the FUFA Women’s Cup through goals by Mercy Nabulobi and Hasifah Nassuuna in the 52nd and 83rd minutes, respectively. These came in the second half to help the UCU Lady Cardinals beat the She Corporates in the finals played at Kabwohe playground in Sheema district.
The new captain featured in this final played with the likes of Ruth Aturo, Mercy Nabulobi, Phoebe Banura, Barbara Nsangi, Annet Nakirijja,Yudaya Nakayenze, Joan Kwagala,Jauhara Nabagala, Teddy Najjuma, Esther Kadondi, Maureen Kinavudori, Millicent Mwanzi, and Yudaya Nakayenze.
