The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association has announced the lineup for the upcoming All Africa Games in Ghana, with a spotlight on players from Uganda Christian University (UCU).
Joel Kayiira and Marvin Jesse Okurut of the UCU Canons have been called up to represent the nation. Kayiira, who recently debuted with the Silverbacks in the AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, continues his national team journey. Okurut, known for his performance in the Under-18 AfroBasket in 2022, will bring his experience to the team alongside Duncan Lubwama of the JT Jaguars.
In the women’s category, UCU Lady Canons’ Sheilah Lumunu, recognized for her 42 defensive rebounds and 25 steals, and Bridget Aber Amaniyo, who scored 102 points and 1.5 average blocks, have been summoned for their exceptional play in the National Basketball League.
The UCU players are set to make a significant impact, building on Uganda’s previous success in the 3×3 basketball event at the 2019 Africa Games, where the women’s team advanced to the quarterfinals.
The full roster includes UCU standouts Joel Kayiira, Marvin Jesse Okurut, Sheilah Lumunu, and Bridget Aber, who are poised to elevate Uganda’s performance at the prestigious continental games.
The African Games, formally known as the All-Africa Games or the Pan African Games, are a continental multi-sport event held every four years, organized by the African Union (AU) with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC).
