The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals are in a worrying mood due to a long list of injuries ahead of the Uganda Martyrs clash in the FUFA Women Super League on Saturday morning.
In a pre-match game ahead of the game, UCU Lady Cardinals head coach Godfrey Magoba says they have replacements but will surely miss the injured players.
“The institution (the university) has just opened, so the players have just returned. We have held only one training session, but I trust the ladies,” he said.
“Going into the game, we have to be cautious and avoid any early shocks. They are young girls, and I am sure they will choose to run us down, but we are fully ready for that,” he added.
“History against our opponent (the Uganda Martyrs) is not the best, but there is always a chance to turn around fortunes, and so we shall try to do that.”
The team is set to miss forward Winfred Atimango due to personal issues. Atimango was the top scorer during the just concluded 2023 AUUS Games.
In the same breath, Eunice Nakagolo, Jovia Nakagolo, Meble Kusasira, and Sandra Kisakye are all in doubt about playing the game due to injuries.
The Lady Cardinals lie eighth on the 10-team log with four points gathered from five games, while the Uganda Martyrs are fourth with seven points.
