UCU Lady Cardinals 3-1 Rines
UCU Lady Cardinals secured a 3-1 victory against Rines in the FUFA Women Super League at UCU Main Ground, Mukono, on Saturday morning.
Harima Kanyago, Meble Kusasira, and Catherine Nakiride scored for the Lady Cardinals, while Aminah Nababi scored Rines’ only strike.
Pacy forward Nababi fired the visitors into the lead in the 12th minute. The forward took an early lead thanks to the continuous pressure on the hosts.
Rines nearly doubled their lead, but the Lady Cardinals’ don’t-fender Peace Aloyo made a stunning goal line clearance to keep her side in the chase.
Kanyago levelled matters in the 19th minute with a great strike thanks to Kusasira’s delivery, and the home crowd went on their feet.
Kanyago nearly gave the hosts a lead with a minute to go to end the first stanza, but his headed effort went narrowly wide.
Kusasira finally found the back of the net in the 70th minute to place the Lady Cardinals in the driving seat, converting Shadia Nankya’s delivery.
With two minutes on the clock, Nakiridde put the icing on the cake with a darling freekick to seal the Lady Cardinals’ emphatic win.
The victory sends the Lady Cardinals into the fifth position with eight points, while Rines SS are ninth on the 10-team log after playing seven games in the ongoing campaign.
