The National Team is a very athlete’s dream out there, and for UCU’s’ Joel Kayiira, it must be one of his best moments learning that he will donning the country’s prestigious colors.
The lanky guard is part of the Silverbacks set up in Tunisia to represent the country in the upcoming Afrobasket qualifiers.
While talking on Twitter, Silverbacks head coach Mandy Juruni affirmed that Kayiira deserves to be on the national team, and this achievement is the fruit of hard work.
“The National Team is a place meant for the best, and I am glad to say that Kayiira’s hard work has paid off,” he said.
“Kayiira has been improving every season, and I am happy that he has reached this far. I can only wait to see what he can go on and become,” he added.
“Kayiira is not only talented but also disciplined. He is a team player and is also ready to learn and get better. For me, that is a plus as we continue to build a strong team.”
Uganda will kickstart her campaign against Cape Verde on Friday. They will later go on and play Nigeria on Saturday before they conclude with Libya.
Uganda will be hurt for its fourth appearance on the continent stage. The journey looks tougher with continent giants like Nigeria and Cape Verde, but the boys are pumped up to fly the flag so high.
