In a thrilling showdown at Lugogo Indoor Arena on October 30, 2024, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) volleyball team emerged victorious over Uganda Christian University’s (UCU) Lady Doves, clinching a 3-1 win in the ongoing National Volleyball League. Though the Lady Doves initially took the lead by winning the first set 25-23, KCCA quickly regained momentum, dominating the next three sets with scores of 15-25, 21-25, and 19-25. This marks KCCA’s sixth consecutive win this season, while the Lady Doves, who have played five games so far, suffered their first defeat.
“They exploited our weak court cover and poor blocking, especially targeting our power attackers’ hands to get through. Moving forward, we’ll focus on team training and addressing our weaknesses now that most players are done with internships,” said Carol Ikot.
UCU coach Juma Osunge acknowledged KCCA’s strength and expressed relief that the Lady Doves experienced a loss early in the season rather than during high-stakes matches. “We faced a formidable opponent, and tasting defeat at this stage gives us room to grow,” Osunge said. He emphasized that the team is already planning improvements in key areas, particularly serving, court defense, and reception, ahead of their next match on November 17.
With this decisive win, KCCA continues to build momentum in the league while the Lady Doves regroup to regain their footing in the upcoming games.
