UCU Lady Canons 57 – 64 KIU Rangers

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Canons saw their National Basketball League (NBL) winning streak come to an end after a 64–57 defeat to the KIU Rangers in a high-intensity clash held on July 4th at YMCA Wandegeya.
UCU started strong, dominating the first quarter with an 11-point lead, finishing 22–11 over the Kansanga-based Rangers.
However, momentum shifted in the second quarter as the Lady Canons struggled offensively, managing just 5 points compared to KIU’s 17. UCU’s points came from a free throw by Zoe Atek, two free throws by Sylvia Nantongo, and a hook shot by Sarah Namale. KIU capitalized and went into halftime with a narrow 28–27 lead.
The third quarter saw an improved offensive effort from UCU, who scored 16 points, although still trailing KIU’s 19. By the end of the third, the Lady Canons were just three points behind.
In the final quarter, UCU added 14 points, but KIU’s 17 sealed a 7-point victory, halting UCU’s winning run.
KIU’s Sharon Kirabo and Racheal Nanyonga stood out with 24 and 12 points respectively. For UCU, Martina Anyango (17), Sylvia Nakituuka (14), and Sylvia Nantongo (12) led the scoring efforts.UCU Lady Canons will play Nabisunsa on Sunday at YMCA Wandegeya.
