    Kizito’s Transformative Journey at UCU

Jeremy Kizito, a third-year student at Uganda Christian University (UCU), recently experienced a profound transformation, finding solace and purpose in his faith. A talented artist, music producer, video editor, and photographer, Jeremy’s journey to Christ emerged from a realization of the futility in pursuing worldly achievements. His newfound relationship with God has redefined his direction, merging his creative passions with a mission to glorify the Lord.

    Can you introduce yourself briefly?

My name is Jeremy Kizito, I am a third-year student at Uganda Christian University.

As a recently saved person, when did you feel like it was time to give your life to Christ?

When I realized that everything else around me is all vanity. As I pursued worldly things, the more I would pursue and achieve I would never really find satisfaction but God is the only REAL. I had been searching for Him, but until I gave my life to Christ, everything was hollow.

Is there anyone that was with you during this moment either from your personal life or Church?

          No.

I am told you are a man of so many talents, do you mind telling?

I am an artist. I am also a music producer and video editor. I’m also a photographer.

When did you discover your love for music and editing?

In my high school days, I would pour my feelings and emotions into poetry and I would write songs and raps. I then taught myself how to use audio editing software like Audacity and FL studio(Fruity Loops) and that’s how I started loving music. I started to enjoy video editing because it would allow me to narrate stories that could emphasize messages I wanted to share.

Do you feel like the Christian lifestyle will be able to fit in with the work you have been doing before?

Honestly, I think it will. Christianity is more than a lifestyle, it is a relationship. Now my direction is doing my best to glorify the Lord.  I wasn’t sure before, but I believe that my works will speak as a testimony to how Jesus Christ transforms and redeems even those who feel like they’re too far gone for God to love them.

                A sample of Kizito’s Music

How have you been able to juggle school and music?

I don’t force things anymore so I don’t juggle. Isaiah 60:22 says “At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” I show up where I am required to be. If it’s time for class then I’m in class, if it’s time for music then it’s time for music. You cannot serve two masters at the same time; you will be torn apart trying to cling to both worlds. Also, I found ways in which the skills I have can be used in class. E.g. class projects, where I work on the sound elements.

How will you use your music that you released before you were born again to benefit the life you are leaving and teaching others?

As the artist, I control the narrative. What I can say is you’ll just have to wait and see.

What would you tell your younger self with what you have experienced growing up?

Behind the mirrors are walls. As much as mirrors help you check yourself, they determine what you think about yourself. You stand in front of a mirror to make sure you fit the mold that the world has made for you. The problem is you keep changing the things that make you unique and create a facade hoping that the world will like what they see; and that’s how you lose your identity. If you know who you are you will spend less time in front of the mirror and more time being the reflection.

Mental health is one of the biggest struggles the youth are facing now. Having struggled with the same, do you have any advice for anyone going through something that is deteriorating their mental health?

Tough truth, drugs, alcohol, and even sex don’t make it better…they look like an escape, but they are truly just a trap to plunge one even deeper into the depths of the abyss. My advice would be to take time off to face the issues one by one head-on. No human being has the ability to mend broken hearts and deep wounds in your heart and mind, but Jesus Christ has that power. He teaches you how to forgive, how to love, how to protect your heart, and how to truly live again. If you are struggling, I encourage you to seek the Lord. People will always let you down, but God never will.

                        Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

                        Psalm 46:1-2

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

                        1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Jeremy’s story is a testament to the power of faith in overcoming life’s challenges and finding true purpose. As he navigates his academic and creative pursuits, his commitment to Christ remains steadfast, offering inspiration to others facing similar struggles. His message is clear: in the midst of life’s trials, there is hope and healing through Jesus Christ. By integrating his talents with his faith, Jeremy aims to be a living testimony to the transformative power of God’s love, encouraging others to seek a deeper relationship with Him.
