UCU Lady Cardinals head to Kawempe on Wednesday to face Kawempe Muslim FC in a tricky encounter.
The Mukono based side will be looking to get their season back on track as they have fallen behind in the title race after losing consecutive games at home.
Defeats by She Corporates FC and Kampala Queens by a 2-1 scoreline has left the Lady Cardinals in third position, seven points behind table topping She Corporates and will be looking to get back to winning ways.
Defensive lapses during the final stretch of games has been the Achilles heel of the Lady Cardinals who have conceded two late goals in both their defeats.
Assistant Head Coach, Simon Assimwe believes that the team has been working on how to improve defensively and the changes will be noticed in the next game.
“We have not been closing games in the best way, conceding two late goals does not help with that, but we have been working on defense and the changes will be seen in the next game”, he says.
Despite the poor run of form, the Lady Cardinals possess the most prolific scorer in the history of the women’s game in the country in Hasifah Nassuna.
She currently has four goals this season and is closing in on 100 top flight goals and will be looking forward to increasing her tally against her former side.
One of the students at the University has no doubt that the team will change around its fortunes after this poor run of form.
“Once we sought the problems we have as a team, our firepower in attack will definitely get us the wins we need”, says Stoffel Ninsiima.
The Lady Cardinals sit in third place with ten points while their opponents lie in sixth place after losing their previous game to Rhines SS.
