    Law School football team ousted

The School of Law Football team was eliminated from the Interfaculty tournament yesterday by their bitter rivals, the Faculty of Engineering, Design, and Technology.

This highly anticipated clash between the two star-sstudded sides took place at the Uganda Christian University’s new pitch, which was surrounded by fans witnessing this gripping encounter. The first 90 minutes ended in a stalemate, forcing the game to be decided on penalties.

The first three sets of players on either side scored emphatically, only for Kato Ryan of the School of Law to hit the post.

Gerald Wangaya, the hero of the Faculty of Engineering, Design, and Technology, stepped up next and smashed the ball into the back of the net, sending Edonu Emmanuel, the keeper of the School of Law, the wrong way.

“I took the last penalty for my team at the stage where people were booing, but I did send it to the back of the net. “I thank God, who gave the courage, and all my coaches,” said Gerald Wangaya, the scorer of the last penalty.

For God Mbamanyire, the captain of the Engineering, Design, and Technology team, also attested to the big challenge the Law Football team presented.

“We expected to win, but it was a very tough challenge because we didn’t expect to reach the penalties and thought we would win in normal time,” said ForGod Mbamanyire.

Hillary Fimalubo, the senior coach of the law school football team, strongly applauded his boys for their strong display throughout the entire game.

“Every time you come for a game, there are always three results to expect: a draw, a win, or a loss, but losing a game doesn’t mean your team isn’t good.” Assured Hillary Fimalubo sternly.

The semifinal football games were delayed by a court injunction letter that was instigated by the School of Business football team and released by the UCU Guild tribunal.

This stalled the games until March 21st, 2023, when the Guild Tribunal headed by Deputy Chief Justice Peace Nankunda dismissed the applicants for failure to respect the UCU Guild Tribunal rules of procedure.

All roads will lead to the UCU main pitch today at exactly 4:00 p.m. as the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the School of Social Sciences football teams sweat it out.

A spot in the finals is at stake as the winner will take on the Faculty of Engineering, Design, and Technology to determine the football champion of this year’s interfaculty competition.

All hope is not lost for the School of Law football team, as they will be playing the team that will fall short today for the third-place playoff spot in the football tournament.
