On the 1st of June 2024, the Uganda Christian University (UCU) South Sudanese Student Association (UCUSSSA) witnessed a significant leadership transition. In a ceremonious event marked by unity and celebration, the outgoing leadership handed over  authority to the newly elected team.

The ceremony saw participation from student association heads from different universities, notably Bugema University, and members of the 26th Guild Government of UCU among others which  underscored the solidarity and collaborative spirit among student bodies across institutions.

The Guest of Honor Pastor Stephen Semusu, pledged a generous donation of 1 million Ugandan shillings to support the transition process.   Furthermore, Pastor Semusu expressed his desire to host a luncheon with both the outgoing and incoming regimes as soon as possible, fostering a spirit of continuity and collaboration.

Adigesi Emmanuel, the outgoing president, officially handed over his responsibilities to the new president, Igama Romario. Alongside Emmanuel, the outgoing secretaries also transferred their duties to the new secretarial team, marking the beginning of a new chapter for UCUSSSA.

This leadership transition signifies not only a change in administration but also a commitment to maintaining the association’s goals and fostering unity among South Sudanese students at UCU. The new leadership under Igama Romario is poised to build on the foundation laid by their predecessors and continue advancing the association’s mission. The association is  dedicated to promoting the welfare and academic success of its members, while strengthening ties with other student bodies and the broader university community.
