Marta’s Legacy Series by Francine Rivers

This is a serie of four generations of women beginning with Marta, Hilde Mara Rose, Carolyn and Dawn all seeking for their life’s purpose.
Indeed, God gives breath to every living soul for a purpose but what was that purpose for these women?
This story is a Serie divided into two books namely, “HER MOTHER’S HOPE and HER DAUGHTER’S DREAM.” It was authored by Francine Rivers and originally published in September 2011.
I love this book because it expresses hard work as brought to us by Marta who lives home a very young girl at fifteen to go make money so as to support her family back at home. It was through her hard work and all her journeys that she was able to finally find her life’s purpose as a great cook through which even though not educated herself, is able to support her children throughout their education
She teaches her children that prayer and fasting alone cannot earn you money but hard work does and through this mentality her children carry on right to the fourth generation.
It also teaches us to express love to those we love. Marta as a mother did not know how to express love to Hilde Mara because of fear that if she did so, she might cripple her and would end up a failure. Hildegard interpreted this as hate yet her other siblings were treated otherwise in the process when she gave birth to a daughter herself, “Carolyn” she didn’t know how to show her love therefore she too was estranged from her daughter just as her mom had done with her. This was the same story all the way to the fourth generation, thanks for Dawn’s birth because it was through her that this era was recognized and rectified thus completing her life’s purpose at an early age.
its appointed for a man to live once and after completing their life’s purpose to die hence the death of Dawn at 20 after uniting her mother, grandmother and grate grandmother.
I therefore recommend this book for all those who might be stagnant not knowing what to get out of life, and those with broken families who think that our parents treat you the way they do because they do not love you. Sometimes they just do not know how to express it.
