Uganda Christian University (UCU) held the 2024 Advent semester Mission Week on October 12th. The mission week is held for a week every semester to impart spiritual growth among the UCU community. This semester, the mission week commenced with the Sunday service under the theme, ”In Him all things hold together” and ended on 18th October  with a movie night.

A staff luncheon was held on October 16th, where Bishop Pons Ozelle preached about life finding its purpose in Jesus Christ. He preached about the matter and focused on the scripture of John 6:10-71.

Bishop Pons Ozelle challenged the staff to put all their faith and trust in God and watch everything fall into its right place.

“Challenges will drain you and make you not to focus on God but when you surrender all these challenges to Him and let him be the centre of your life, life starts to make meaning,” said Bishop Ozelle.

According to Rev. Canon Paul Wasswa Ssembiro, the chaplain of UCU, the university’s mission is, “To equip students for productive, holistic lives of Christian faith and service.” He added, “UCU can only achieve this with the involvement of the staff. The staff interact more with the students on a daily basis compared to the chaplaincy that interacts with the students only during community worship hours and Sunday service.”

Kasule Kibirige the head of department of undergraduate students in the School of social Sciences said the mission week was a time of reflection and a platform to link him to the UCU community, especially fellowshipping with fellow staff members.

“It is such a rare opportunity found at UCU where members of staff gather together away from office work to fellowship and share the word of God. It has really been a time for me to reflect on my life and let God be the centre.”Winnifred Kany Balyesiime, an assistant counselor, shared that for anything to work out, it has to be Christ aligned, if one is to find full satisfaction in God, “God is the answer to all the questions we have. Without Him there is nothing we can do. So for anything to work out in our lives, we have to make Him the centre,” she said.
