Hasifah Nassuna made history as she became the first woman to score 100 goals in professional league history in a 3-1 victory against Tooro Queens.

A goal in each half was enough to enable her to reach that tally and cement her legacy further as one of the greatest to do it in this country.

Hasifah acknowledged that the goals had taken some time to arrive, but she is glad that she made history and more is to come.

It was frustrating not to get this record sooner, but I am glad that I was able to get the goals. I am happy that the team won and more is to come from all of us, she said.

The Lady Cardinals returned to winning ways after a poor run of form that saw them lose to Olila High School in the last game, and this victory snaps a four-game winless streak at home.

Mercy Nabuloobi was able to open the scoring on the day with a long-range free kick before Hasifah was able to take over with two fantastic finishes.

The conversion of chances was a welcome sight for the Mukono-based side, who had failed to find form in front of goal in their previous games.

Standing beside the coach, Mwera Jimmy was glad that the side got the victory today and hoped that this could spark a winning run in the side.

We struggled in the last few games, but I am happy that we got the victory today, and hopefully we can be able to spark a winning run in our next few games.

The Lady Cardinals remain fourth in the standings with 21 points, five behind the table leaders, Kampala Queens, and their next opponents, She-Corporates.

(L-R) Phoebe Banura, Sandra Kisakye, Hasifah Nassuna, and Shadia Nankya

In other good news, Shadia Nankya, Phoebe Banura, Hasifah Nassuna, and Sandra Kisakye were selected for the provisional squad to represent Uganda at the CECAFA Women’s Championship and the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations due to take place in July.
