The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons will look to keep their National Basketball League playoff hopes alive when they take on Kampala Rockets in Game Two of their best-of-three quarterfinal series on Wednesday night.

The Mukono side, who fell 50-49 in a nail-biting opener at the Jaguars’ Den in Kira, must win at Lugogo Indoor Arena to force a decisive Game Three.

Tip-off for this fixture is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

In Game One, the Canons squandered a seven-point first-quarter lead and paid the price for 21 turnovers, despite out-rebounding the Rockets 52-41. Pauti Ozias Kikomba’s late layup sealed the Rockets’ victory, leaving UCU with everything to play for.

Captain Lwabaga Ibanda, who scored 12 points in the loss, stressed the need for sharper offence and mental focus. Teammate Joel Kayiira, who added 10 points and 13 rebounds, will also be crucial as the Canons chase redemption.

For the Rockets, Gideon Kasasa and Edward Mugabo provided steady scoring with 10 points apiece, while Juf Mpiya dominated the boards with 11 rebounds. They will be looking to finish the series and book their place in the semifinals without a third game.

For UCU, it is simple; win or go home.
