Police have arrested a key suspect in the murder of Uganda Christian University Director of Student Affairs, Ms. Pamela Tumwebaze.
According to a statement issued by the Uganda Police Force through its social media platforms, Police Spokesperson Racheal Kawala said the Joint Security Task Team arrested the suspect, identified as Taewaiko Dak Hussein, on February 14, 2026, at his hideout in Budaka District.
Kawala said the suspect was found in possession of property belonging to the deceased, which investigators described as critical evidence linking him to the murder.
According to Kawala, findings further indicate that the suspect is a former house help to Ms Tumwebaze.
Ms Tumwebaze was killed at her residence in Gwafu, Goma, Seeta Ward, Mukono District, on February 11 following a suspected nighttime intrusion.
Police have not yet publicly stated a clear motive. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as inquiries progress.
Burial arrangements indicate that the body of the deceased, Ms Pamela Tumwebaze, will be taken to her ancestral home in Nkokonjeru, Mbarara, where a vigil will be held before she is laid to rest in Kashari on Sunday, February 15.
