    UCU Canons win season opener as the ladies stumble

    The UCU Canons won their first game of the 2022 National Basketball League as they defeated the KIU Titans 74-66 at the YMCA grounds in Wandegeya on Saturday. Titus Lual was voted man of the match as they were dominant. They play the Tropical royals next seeking to make it two wins out of two which will take them to the top of the table where KCCA panthers currently occupy.

    The Lady Canons lost their season opener against the JKL Lady Dolphins 70-49. The team will be looking to get back to winning ways in their next game. JKL Lady Dolphins currently occupy top spot while the Lady Canons are bottom after one game.

    Rwanda Energy Group book their ticket to the Basketball Africa League playoffs .

    Pitchou Kambuy Manga inspired REG to a 77-74 win over US Monastir of Tunisia to book their ticket to the playoff round of the Basketball Africa League to be held in their home country. The center tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks to inspire his side who trailed by as many as 10 points to their North African counterparts who had earlier sealed their place in the playoffs.

    Draymond Green returns as Warriors big three play first game together in 1,005 days.

    Draymond Green made his return to the basketball court as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Washington wizards 126-112 in a game that saw Steph Curry drop 47 points to improve their record to 47-22 as the playoffs approach. This was the first time that Draymond Green, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson played together since game 6 of the 2019 NBA finals which saw Thompson go down with an achilles injury and later tear his ACL which led to him being sidelined for two years. Green returned after missing 30 games with a lower back injury.

    Lady Cardinals lose again at home to dent title hopes.

    The UCU Lady Cardinals lost 2-1 to the Kampala Queens on Saturday in Mukono. The rainy encounter didn’t make it easy for both teams as goals from Zaina Nandede and Lilian Matuuzo was enough to get the win for the Kampala based side. Hasifah Nassuna scored the goal for the home side as she closes in on 100 professional goals in the division. The Lady Cardinals lie in second place level on points with the Queens having played a game more. She Cooperates top the table six points ahead of their closest challengers.

    Sundowns do the double on Al- Ahly to lay down a marker

    Mamelodi Sundowns defeated African Champions Al- Ahly 1-0 to complete the double over their North African rivals to take control of their group in their CAF Champions league encounter that took place on Saturday at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg. Namibian forward, Peter Shalulile scored the decisive goal of the game in the first half to secure the three points for the men from Pretoria. They face Al Hilal of Sudan next looking to make it to the next round of the competition and win their first title since 2016.

    CR7 hat-trick breaks world record as United return to winning ways.

    Cristiano Ronaldo scored a treble against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford over the weekend to keep his teams chances of qualifying for the champions league as they won 3-2. The occasion also marked the day Ronaldo broke the record as the person who has scored the most goals in men’s professional history to take his tally to 807 goals. Manchester United face Atletico de Madrid in the second leg of the Champions league round of 16 tie on Tuesday and will look to him for inspiration.

    Tom Brady returns for a 23rd NFL season as he goes back on decision to retire.

    Seven time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady revealed over the weekend that he has decided to come out of retirement and compete in his 23rd NFL season. The quarterback will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will try to win the superbowl with many predicting that this may be his final season. The 44 year old revealed on twitter that he will indeed make a return. The G.O.A.T will grace our screens for at least another year after making the most touchdown passes last season to show that he still has the quality.
