The UCU Canons defeated the Falcons 71-53 to remain perfect after three games of 2022, National Basketball league (NBL) regular season.

The game was held at the UCU basketball courts for the first time this season.  The Mukono-based side fully took advantage of the home court.

Falcons were the early pacesetters of the game inspired by Wasswa Bbosa who took advantage of the Canons’ slow start.

However, the game was interrupted for 30mins due to the heavy downpour in Mukono. The Canons dominated the game when it restarted.

Quick transitions proved fruitful as the Canons were able to take advantage of the cold-shooting by the Falcons in order to take the lead and wrestle control of the game which later became an easy win.

Falcons head coach insists that the team has to improve their finishing in the next game in order not to fall too behind when they have a bad spell.

Canons player, Lwabaga Ibanda credits the second unit for rallying the team in order to bounce back after they had fallen behind.

“The second unit was able to dig us out of the hole they were in and they deserve credit for that, we need to also match the intensity in the first quarter in the next game like we did in the third quarter today”, he says.

Canons head coach, Nicholas Natuhereza says that he is happy that the team has begun in perfect form, but insists that there is plenty more to come.

“I am pleased that we have been able to make it three wins out of three and the players deserve credit for that, but there is plenty of more to come, the sky’s the limit for this team”, he says.

The falcons have lost all three games and will look to avoid the rot when they face Our Savior next while the Canons will be looking to go 4-0 when they face KCCA panthers next.
