UCU Canons fly to the knockout

UCU Canons qualify for the knockout phase of the 20th edition of the Association of Uganda University Sports, AUUS Games 2025 basketball Men’s category following their last group stage win against Makerere University Business School, MUBS by 80-51.

In what looked like a fully dominated game by UCU, who tussled it out with MUBS, ended in a thrilling 80-51 win for Canons, with an exceptional performance of the afternoon.

UCU Canons in the classiest company of the Captain Joel Kayiira magnificently showcased intensity with a margin of 39 points at the end of the fourth quarter.

As usual, Daniel Muganzi aggressively did the donkey work of defending as Carlos Loum and Jude Thaddeus Onyang spontaneously squeezed MUBS’ defence with counter attacking runs shielded by three-point shots, which eventually maximised their total points accumulated.

The Canons Captain Joel Kayiira arguably said, “the game was not easy as it may look in the eyes of the fans and supporters, but rather a display of hard work and enough preparation done beforehand to deliver on court during this tournament.”

UCU Canons now look forward to playing their first knock-out game of the semi-final level this evening at 9 pm at the UCU basketball court.
