The Uganda Christian University Canons powered past a fuzzy looking Kyambogo side in their third game of the Inter University Tournament. In this scintillating game of play, the UCU Canons looked completely invisible as they showed their dominance from the word go.

By the end of proceedings, the Canons managed to establish a staggering 43-point difference between them and the Banda-based outfit. This performance was nothing short of distinction. Even as they were on the receiving end, team Kyambogo never gave up. They put up a valiant fight until the very end.

The game was played in the cool of today’s evening as revealers enveloped the entirety of UCU’s third court. Cheering from the stands, the crowds were often brought to a frenzy with Kyambogo’s Bua Brian’s three pointers and Canons’ Ibanda Blisk’s touch and tease.

The Canons powered through the first quarter with one goal in mind and by the end of the first quarter, they managed to garner25 points to Kyambogo’s 10 points.

The home team continued to punish their opponents adding another 17 points to bring the point tally to 42 against Kyambogo’s 14 points. By the end of this quarter it was very clear who the winner would be. Or was it? Basketball is renowned for historic comebacks so the Canons were to resist being too sure and overly proud as they headed to the second half of the game.

The Cardinals continued their dominance in the third set with Ibanda landing a cracker of a dink that brought crowds to their feet. Moments later Deng Dekong hit a three pointer and with it all hopes of a Kyambogo comeback were but thrashed into utter oblivion.

By the end of the day, the Canons managed to garner 73 points to Kyambogo’s 24 points.

“Weve been training, the team has been rotated and everyone has gotten a chance to play. we have executed what we have been training for and we are generally very happy,” said Ibanda Captain of the Canons after the game.

The captain insisted that today’s victory was not just a question of the opposition tema being weak but rather the team earned their hard-worked victory.

“By the time a team registers to play at this stage, then it means they are a good team. The thing is that we were just the better team as we executed our game plan,” Said Ibanda.

This game marks the third successive win for the Canons after their earlier victories against Bugema University in the first game where they had to win in overtime 69 to 65. Later they played a determined Gulu side which they thrashed by a 32-point margin, garnering 65 to 33 points.
