Uganda Christian University, UCU, Canons edge Uganda Martyrs University, UMU, in the Men’s category basketball Association of Uganda University Sports, AUUS Games 2025, to register a second consecutive win.
UCU Canons, with a margin of 19 points after scoring 74 against 44 by UMU, showcased another eye-catching performance this evening at UCU’s Main Court.
Exceptional performance was from point guard Jude Thaddeus Onyang, who capitalized on his height to block UMU’s fierce attackers.
Daniel Muganzi and Carlos Loum also showed tenacity and aggression in attacking UMU’s point guards through making their thrilling three-point shots, which helped the Canons in maximizing their points in today’s hot clash.
According to UCU Canons’ playmaker Solomon Olara said that their second win in this competition is an attribute of hard work shown in preparatory training sessions held before, and the stiff competition they have always showcased in the Basketball league.
In addition to that, the team has also undergone great improvement at an individual level, on top of having experienced players who have played before in big tournaments like the 3×3 Basketball World Cup.
“We relied on three-point shots because of the many laps we often make in our training sessions, because the more laps you make in practice, the more you become a perfectionist in them. Here at UCU, it’s a culture to shoot, and it’s no surprise to the UCU fans; it’s only a surprise to those who don’t practice them. “
The thrilling game, which was more of a reply to the AUUS Basketball final of the last edition, continued to exhibit UCU Canons’ strength in this tournament for the games concluding on 23rd December next week.
