Uganda Christian University (UCU) has secured a third-place overall finish at the 13th East Africa University Games. Held in Kenya at Maseno University, the biennial event attracted fierce competition among regional universities, with UCU amassing a total of 32 medals, including 15 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze.
Basketball Brilliance
UCU’s basketball teams were the highlight of the games, clinching gold in both the men’s and women’s categories. Their performances were a masterclass in skill, teamwork, and tactical excellence, solidifying UCU’s reputation as a basketball powerhouse in the region.
Netball and Tennis
The university’s prowess extended to netball and tennis. UCU’s women’s netball team earned a silver medal, showcasing their agility and coordination. On the tennis courts, UCU dominated by securing two gold and two silver medals across both the men’s and women’s competitions, reaffirming their supremacy in racquet sports.

- Badminton: UCU won one gold and two bronze medals, thanks to the exceptional performances of the mixed and women’s teams.
- Table Tennis: The women’s team brought home a silver medal, underlining UCU’s versatility in indoor sports.
- Rugby 7s: A bronze medal added to the university’s diverse achievements, reflecting their resilience on the pitch.
Medal Tally
Ndejje University dominated the leaderboard with an impressive total of 98 medals (34 gold, 35 silver, and 29 bronze). USIU-Africa from Kenya secured second place with 49 medals (17 gold, 9 silver, and 23 bronze). UCU followed closely in third place with a strong performance, earning 32 medals (15 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze).
