The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Volleyball Doves continued their dominant run in the national volleyball league with a convincing straight-sets victory over Uganda Prisons Volleyball Club at the Sport-S Sports Ground in Nsambya.

The Doves won their second consecutive league game in emphatic fashion, taking the match 3-0 (25-14 in set 1, 25-17 in set 2 and 30-28 in the last set).

UCU set the tone early, overpowering Uganda Prisons in the first set with a commanding 25-14 scoreline. Their precise attacking play and solid defence left their opponents struggling to find momentum. The Doves maintained their dominance in the second set, executing well-coordinated plays to secure a 25-17 win.

The third set proved to be the most intense of the match, as Uganda Prisons fought back fiercely, pushing the set beyond the standard 25-point mark. However, the resilience and composure of the UCU Doves saw them edge out their rivals 30-28 to seal the victory.

“We did our best in the first and second set, but the third set had many unforced errors but we managed to get our heads in the game and bring home this win”, Mark Omara Ocan the captain said.

The game was attended by the UCU Director of Student Affairs (DOSA), who praised the team’s remarkable performance and discipline on the court. Speaking after the match, the DOSA expressed pride in the Doves’ continuous growth and success.

“This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players and coaching staff. We are proud to see UCU represented at such a high level of competition, and we hope to continue this winning streak,” said the DOSA, Mrs. Pamela Tumwebaze.

With this triumph, UCU cements its place as a serious contender in the league, as they look ahead to their next challenge. The Doves’ impressive form and unwavering determination signal that they are a force to be reckoned with in Ugandan volleyball.
