    UCU Law Society roadmap underway

The Uganda Christian University(UCU) Law Society roadmap is underway with applications currently being taken in for up to thirteen elective positions. The process hit a snug after the echagua online election portal was not initially catering to the off semester applicants. This was because the semester’s students were not registered for the ongoing semester. The portal required them therefore to register first which would automatically create a financial implication.

The UCU Law Society Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Andrew Kinobere, confirmed that the system has been corrected and the application deadline has been extended as far as the end of the month. “We’re going to extend the call for applications so that we can have the nominations next week on the 31st,” Kinobere said.

He further noted that challenges such as these were prepared for in the creation of the roadmap. Therefore, the adjustments in the nomination dates have not switched the election dates. “The election day, and all the other dates will remain the same.” Kinobere added.

So far, Eunice Nantongo Wangabira, John Albert Muwanika and Kimeze Samuel Mark have expressed interest in running for the Society’s highest position, a seat currently being held by H.E Nawaf Khalid.

In his tenure, Nawaf also received the Orombi Execellence award for most outstanding student leader for his role at the helm of the Law Society’s administration. The Law Society is a student body under the School of Law that overseas the welfare of student affairs in line with the university’s policies and guidelines.
