    UCU Mbale set to graduate 580 students tomorrow

    Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mbale University College will on Friday, November 28, 2025, hold Part Four of its 26th graduation ceremony with a total of 580 students set to graduate. 

    The event will be hosted at the university’s Mbale campus and will be presided over by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, who will grace the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

    Speaking during a press conference held today at Mbale Courts View Hotel, the UCU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Rev. Prof. John Mulindwa Kitayimbwa, confirmed the university’s readiness and highlighted the significance of this year’s cohort. 

    He was accompanied by the Chairperson of the UCU Mbale College Governing Council, Rt. Rev. George Bogere, the Acting Principal, Mr. Vincent Kisenyi, and the College Secretary, Mrs. Dorothy Amon Kaka.

    Graduation Statistics indicate that, of the 580 graduands, 291 (51%) are male, while 289 (49%) are female, reflecting a gender balance that the Deputy Vice Chancellor applauded as a sign of improving access to higher education for both sexes.

    Only seven (7) students achieved first class degrees, a performance Rev. Prof. Kitayimbwa said demonstrates a strong commitment to academic quality and rigor at UCU.

    The university also unveiled the best-performing students: Overall Best Student is Masette Elsie Wokuri, Pursuant of Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration with (CGPA: 4.68) and Abdul Nasser Majid Matege, Bachelor of Business Administration (CGPA: 4.62) is Overall Best Male Student:

    The DVC praised the two for their academic discipline, encouraging current students to emulate their dedication.

    Earlier today, the graduands were commissioned at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Mbale, in a solemn service led by the Rt. Rev. John Wilson Nandaah, Bishop of Mbale Diocese. 

    The commissioning ceremony is a traditional spiritual preparation for UCU graduates, emphasising Christian values, responsibility, and community service.

    Parents, students, and invited guests have been advised to observe the UCU dress code policy, with university officials emphasizing decency and respect for the institution’s Christian values.
