UCU Students open mobile computer business

Mafabi Patrick, Najib Tibizuka, and Gimei Benedict, who are studying information technology (I.T) at Uganda Christian University (UCU), have launched Computer Haven, a mobile I.T. business.

Mafabi, the CEO, says their goal at the moment is to use their skills and knowledge to meet clients’ needs and make money as well.

The main headquarters of the business are located in Makindye at Wabigalo Road and Namuwongo Plot 17 on Kampala Road.

“I can assure you that we are dealing with UCU students in particular because we are working remotely at UCU and renting on campus would be quite expensive given that we are still students,” Mafabi says.

He says that there are two people at UCU who operate the business on campus, and a third person is stationed in Kampala, where their business headquarters are located.

He further noted that he markets his business by distributing posters around campus and using social media, as people post about his business on their social media accounts, and through this, his clients are able to reach out to him.

They offer full-stack development, website designing, basic laptop repair (for example, laptop battery replacement, keyboard replacement, cleaning laptops), and many other computer software-related problems.

According to Najib Tibizuka, they are still on the verge of making profits, despite a lack of advertising, which doesn’t matter for the time being because all they need to do is focus on good service delivery to attract more clients.

He also added that they would love to also offer lessons to those who are interested in learning, though it may be a bit difficult because they are students too and have coursework deadlines to meet, but as their busy schedules reduce over time, they will see how to take that suggestion into consideration.
