Makerere University 1-1 Uganda Christian University (interrupted)
The game failed to go past the 34th minute due to the soggy playing ground that hardly allowed a ball to move freely. The situation forced officials to interrupt play and call off the game.
Information reaching this website confirms that the game will resume tomorrow at 10 a.m. on the same ground where it stopped.
The game kick-off was delayed by more than half an hour due to the heavy downpour, but after lengthy discussions, both teams were called on the field of play for action to get underway.
In the 18th minute, Makerere took the lead through Musa Male, who curled the ball into the back of the net to send the fans into a party mood.
The hosts dominated the game and had a great game plan for the soggy ground; however, the UCU Cardinals kept calm, waiting for their moment in the tight duel.
UCU captain Geoffrey Gaganda restored parity for the visitors with a powerful header that left Makerere custodian helpless and stranded in between the sticks in the 30th minute.
Four minutes later, the game was paused due to the continuous rain that made the pitch unplayable on the day.
Looking back, the two sides met in the opening game of the just concluded inter-university games, and Makerere secured a 2-0 victory.
