Uganda Christian University is set to play Makerere University in the quarterfinals of the University Football League.
The set-up and three others were confirmed after the draws that were held today, Thursday, February 20, 2024, at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo.
Speaking to the press shortly after the draws, Cardinals gaffer Jimmy Kintu revealed that they are ready to put on the best show.
“I am sure it will be an entertaining game. I know every team that has come this far has a dream to play the last game of the tournament,” he noted.
“We have the same target, however, and to achieve that, we ought to put up a great fight on the field of play so as to pick a positive result,” he added.
Makerere secured a 2-0 victory against the Cardinals in the opening game of the recently concluded AUUS Games that were hosted in Mukono. Coach Kintu underlined that Makerere will not be a walkover.
“Makerere is a good team, and we respect it. They have put up great performances in the tournament; however, we are ready for the tug of war.”
“Everything will be decided on the field as these two teams meet twice. We shall now go back and prepare well so that we can fully represent our university,” he concluded.
The league is expected to kick off on Thursday, February 15, after taking nearly a two-month break.
