Uganda Christian University (UCU) has been recognised as the Strategic Partner of the Year by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for its outstanding contribution to the country’s fiscal development. The university received the award during URA’s annual Taxpayers Appreciation Ceremony held at the authority’s headquarters in Nakawa.

According to URA, UCU has, over the last three financial years, consistently filed its returns on time and contributed more than UGX 23 billion in taxes; placing it ahead of all institutions in the education sub-sector.

URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki commended the university for its reliability and impact, saying, “Thank you, UCU, for diligently contributing to Uganda’s development story.”

In addition to its financial compliance, UCU continues to offer quality education that equips graduates to drive investment and support national growth. The university was represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, Mr. David Mugawe.

Commenting on the recognition, Blessed Aston Aryamanya, an Entrepreneurship Lecturer at the School of Business and Coordinator of the UCU Innovation Hub, said the award affirms the institution’s values.

“As a faith-based institution teaching business, compliance is critical. Jesus said, ‘Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.’ This recognition shows that we not only teach compliance and ethical business practice but also live by it,” he noted.

Aryamanya added that the award also creates opportunities for students, including internships and practical learning engagements.

URA’s annual appreciation ceremony honours organisations and individuals who demonstrate consistency and diligence in meeting their tax obligations, underscoring the role of compliance in national development.
