UCU Lady Cardinals: 1-1 Uganda Martyrs
Kawempe Muslim 5-0, Wakiso Hill
Lady Doves 0-2 Kampala Queens
UCU Lady Cardinals were held by the Uganda Martyrs in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday morning.
It was a tight game, and the result purely paints a clear picture of how the events in the game unfolded.
Sandra Kisakye scored for the visitors before Kevin Nakachwa levelled matters in the 1-1 stalemate.
The hosts nearly took the lead in the 17th minute through Shamsa Najjuma. Uganda Martyrs captain Latifah Nakasi set up Najjuma steps away from the goal line, but the forward’s end effort went inches wide.
Ten minutes later, Angel Auki sent in a long pass to Nakasi, who was brought down at the edge of the box, but the free kick was far from the target.
Amidst a busy first half, none of the sides found the back of the net, and the referee sent both sides into the resting rooms so as to set a strategy for the next period.
Kisakye finally broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute. The forward found the back of the net from the corner kick as the backline looked on.
But the visitors’ lead hardly lasted long as the hosts equalised seven minutes later through Nakachwa. The forward converted from the 12-yard mark after Nakasi was fouled in the dangerous area.
Elsewhere, Kawempe Muslim continued with their impressive run as they humbled Wakiso Hills in a 5-0 victory, while Kampala Queens returned to winning ways after securing a 2-0 victory against Lady Doves.
The Lady Cardinals move to the seventh position on the log with five points, while the Uganda Martyrs are fourth on the log with eight points after playing six games.
