UCU Congolese students elect new leaders

Congolese students at Uganda Christian University have elected their new leaders.  

Under their association, the Uganda Christian University’s Congolese Students Association (UCUCSA), conducted online elections on vote.electionrunner.com On February 25.

Berton Ruposo was elected UCUCSA President; Mpibwe Kituka vice president; Mpiguyabo Cika Electoral Commission President and Divine Bagoso treasurer. The new team later took over office on March 27 at a ceremony held at the University’s main campus in Mukono.

Ruposo, a first-year student from the School of Business said was grateful for the students who entrusted him with the leadership of the association. 

“I encourage you, fellow countrymen and women, to remain united and we work together as a family,” he said, adding, “I am going to help you understand why we are here at UCU.”

The ceremony was attended by the former UCU guild president Timothy Kadaga who appreciated the Congolese students for being united. “I like the way you are united. You portray teamwork and I pray that the new leadership takes the association to greater heights,” Kadaga said.

The President of the Congolese students’ association at St. Lawrence University in Kampala Alex Ndaye Balezi, who also graced the event commended UCUCSA’s outgoing leadership for the unity in the association. 

The event was combined with celebrations of the 2021 International Women’s Day. UCUCSA’s Outgoing President Jean Mark Makoma wished the incoming team success during their tenure.
