    UCU Canons 79 – 46 Livingstone

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons returned to winning ways in the National Basketball League (NBL) with a dominant 79–46 victory over Livingstone Basketball Club on Saturday, 5th July at YMCA Wandegeya.

The Canons wasted no time asserting control, powering to a 22–11 first-quarter lead. Their sharp offence and early defensive energy set the tone.

In the second quarter, the Mukono side continued to pile on the pressure, outscoring Livingstone 23–10 to take a commanding 45–21 lead at halftime. Point guard Jonathan Kasilimbi was key in the opening half, contributing 11 points in just 11 minutes of action.

The third quarter saw a slight dip in scoring, but UCU still managed to outscore their opponents 16–11, extending the lead to 61–32 heading into the final period.

In the fourth, Coach Nicholas Natuhereza’s side kept things tidy, adding 18 points while conceding 14 to seal a comprehensive 79–46 win.

At full-time, Marvin Okurut led the scoring with 16 points, followed by Kasilimbi with 13, while Lwabaga Ibanda and Solomon Olara added 13 and 11 points respectively. For Livingstone, forward Isaac Akoal stood out with 20 points nearly half of his team’s total output.

The Canons now shift focus to their next fixture against Sommet Basketball Club, scheduled for Sunday, 6th July at 4 p.m. at YMCA Wandegeya.
