A third-year law student at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Osbert Alinda, has been arrested .

“Before I came to UCU, I had this image that it was a strict school with tight rules and regulations. My friends even said it was more like boarding school, but I didn’t mind. Deep down, I loved everything about UCU because I wanted to come out as a well-rounded lady—someone of value and substance to society—and I knew I could find that at UCU.

Uganda’s flagship programme, Presidential Initiative on AIDS Strategy for Communication to Youth (PIASCY) was born at the beginning of the century. Despite Uganda’s impressive progress in tackling the disease, AIDS was still spoken of in hushed tones, a “killer disease” that few dared to discuss openly. PIASCY broke this silence, shedding light on the grim reality of AIDS and providing crucial knowledge and practical strategies to young people to protect themselves. 

Life beyond the university walls can be exciting, but it will also present new difficulties. In the professional realm, the stakes are often higher. You will face competition, expectations, and the pressures of navigating your career path. The transition will not be easy.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) is mourning the tragic loss of two of its students, Lillian Kampi and Joanne Mirana Wanyana, whose untimely deaths in early September have left the university community in shock and grief. Kampi, a second-year Bachelor of Nursing Science student, was found dead in her hostel room on September 9, while Wanyana, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Data Science Analytics student, passed away in a hospital just five days later on September 14. The exact cause of Kampi’s death remains unknown, as the post-mortem report has not yet been released.

The ruling, delivered on September 29, found that Nassozi’s accountability for the funds was insufficient. The tribunal court ruled that her allowances should be attached  to the University account until further notice. It also stated that Nassozi refunds what she failed to account for. 

“I had lost hope but upon receiving the LDC email, hope has returned and indeed it is a prayer answered for me and everyone else that was waiting. It feels good because I don’t have to worry about not knowing what’s next. I have a plan now of working for three months as I wait for January,”
