The Lady Canons and Canons have tested for the Covid-19 ahead of the forthcoming basketball season. The players went to Lugogo, at the MTN Arena, on Friday, April 16, where they met a medical team commissioned by the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA).
A team of 32 players and 4 officials of Uganda Christian University took the tests.
The UCU Sports department has done this in observation of guidelines from the Ministry of Sports and Education and the National Council of Sports; All players licensed under the first division category had to take the tests. The first division is the highest league in Uganda. Players that test positive for Covid-19 will be effectively sent into isolation at centers prescribed by FUBA.
Samuel Lukaire the team manager said that “we hope the team players are negative so that they can be accredited to play the Sunday game, which is an opening game. It means a lot to the team.”
This is the first of eight tests that the players have to be subjected to every after two weeks.
