A month after The Standard reported about complaints over the service provided at different restaurants on the campus, students say they now see some improvements. Previously, the complaints included poor structure, leaking roofs,and shaking tables. However, a number said the recent upgrades at Touch of Class restaurant have made the place look and feel better. The improvements include the replacement of shaky tables with new long ones designed for comfort and repairs to previously leaking areas.

Students leaders have been urged to continue learning and to desist from identity politics .This was at the recently concluded 34th Inter-Guild Council of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) convened by Rt Hon Emmanuel Edonu, the Speaker of the 26th Guild Government at Uganda Christian University, Mukono,

The race for the Guild President at Uganda Christian University(UCU)  is intensifying as two candidates, Samantha Mwesigye from the School of Law and Lynn Abassa from the faculty of Nursing and Public Health, head to the ballot today, Friday 22 November 2024. 

UCU Lady Canons, reigning African champions, are fielding a strong roster that includes Aziida Nabayunga, Aber Bridget, Shakirah Nanvubya, and Tracy Namugosa.

As the 13th edition of the Eastern Africa University Games (EAUG) draws near, excitement is building across East Africa. Scheduled to take place at  Maseno University, Kenya, from December 16 to 20, 2024, the Games will bring together over 30 universities from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan to compete in a wide range of sports disciplines. The student leadership elections at Uganda Christian University (UCU) are a unique process and have become a model that other institutions are starting to emulate. One of the defining features of UCU’s elections is the absence of political parties. This allows candidates to focus on issues within the university rather than being swayed by external influences.

Prof. Emily Maractho, a lecturer at Uganda Christian University, kicked off the discussions by highlighting the factors contributing to the decline in trust in the media. She attributed this erosion to economic pressures, political polarization, media ownership influences, the unchecked spread of misinformation on social media, and gaps in journalists’ training.
