Charity Bongomin, made history on Saturday, April 9 when she was crowned the first-ever winner of the Miss Uganda Christian University (UCU) pageant competitions beating other 35 contestants. Out of the applicants, 11 failed to meet the prerequisites while the rest who appeared before the six (6) member panel fell below the standards exhibited leading to a clearer win for Bongomin.
Bongomin is set to represent UCU at the Miss University Uganda competitions and later at the Miss University Africa (MUA) pageant. MUA is an annual international beauty pageant organized by Visions, Innovations, and Concept. The pageant was first held in 2010. The competition is aimed at raising a ‘true African beautiful, elegant and intelligent queen that would stand tall on the African walkway. The heels of confidence, a fearless face, and an audible voice to challenge the negativity that has been attached to the black skin over the years.
Bongomin expressed excitement saying she is ready to represent UCU. Bongomin believes that the support exhibited by her friends and the 24th Guild will continue to inspire her to higher heights.
“I will do everything within my powers to market the UCU by giving myself an epitome example of the products that the university produces. I became what I’m because of my university. I will intentionally represent UCU and girl child,” Bongomin said.
As the search for Miss Inter-university of 2022 deepens, UCU’s Bongomin is currently undergoing pieces of training to keep up with the current and the required status. Should Bongomin win the Miss Inter-university of Uganda, she will represent Uganda in a 54 African countries’ competition. According to the insider, the winner will walk away with the cash prize of USD150,000, a new car, and also will become United Nations’ Ambassador.
By press time, Rachel Mirembe Sserwadda, the 24th Guild President of UCU had pledged to support Bongomin to shoot highest in the competitions. Without mentioning the exact support, Sserwadda said would facilitate Bongomin spiritually, financially, and mentally.
“Count on the guild for all kinds of support. I can assure you that the 24th guild has your back. Good luck wishes,” Sserwadda said.
Talking to Roy Yoga, one of the six panelists said that one Bongomin embeds almost every required quality something he said might make her win the topmost competitions.
“We found her the fittest for the position. If she gets the required training, the win shall be obvious,” Yiga said. This website so still following up on the full story as it will unfold.
