Dear finalists, first off, I would like to welcome you all back from the festive season. Now is the time however, to put that enjoyment at the back of your minds and focus on your studies as this is your final chapter at campus. You can not let all the previous years’ hard work that you have achieved from your first semester of the first year go down the drain.
In today’s social media-driven world, social functions like bridal showers, picnics, staff parties, couple dates, marriage proposals and the like have been done in such a way that many young people find themselves spending way too much on them.
With the new semester kicking in at Uganda Christian University, financial challenges remain a common experience; tuition fees, house rent, food, and materials for academics stretch many resources to a breaking point. We should understand however, that life is not about material gains but the manner in which one faces these predicaments and stands for values that count.
What does it mean to be democratic? The term itself suggests two fundamental principles: firstly, in a national context, governance by elected representatives accountable to all citizens; secondly, within society, adherence to the equality of all members regardless of wealth or social standing. However, the global application of these ideals faces significant challenges and contradictions.
Loving our neighbours (anyone in need), is a command and not optional. Let us not wait until a traveller is beaten into a coma on the roadside, let us share acts of love every day. It could be a smile, hug, or a shoulder for one to lean on.
In English-speaking regions, precise grammar is often seen as essential for fluent and confident communication. In a country where English is spoken as an official language, it’s time to reassess our attitudes towards grammar — particularly for those for whom English is a second language.
I feel the time has come to embrace AI; imagine a future in which every Ugandan child has access to a world-class education driven by innovation and technology! However, we can only do it together with a complete AI ecosystem.
There are a lot of activities university students indulge in after they are out of the university premises. Though I am choosing to focus on only two that they have dubbed “ enjoyment and cool” but in my perspective I think it’s expensive as it costs their education and health.
It has come to my notice that many persons are blinded more by wealth other than health nowadays. Many people have worked tooth and nail to become rich.
