    FUFA Women Cup: Result

Lady Doves 1-2 UCU Lady Cardinals

The UCU Lady Cardinals reached the prestigious FUFA Women Cup semi-finals after a 2-1 victory against the Lady Doves in the quarterfinals.

It was a sweet victory for the Mukono-based side since they had lost to the Lady Doves 3-0 a week ago in the FUFA Women Super League.

Jovia Nakagolo gave the visitors an early lead in the second minute with a thrilling finish that was inspired by a solo run from the left flank.

Ten minutes late, Nakagolo nearly doubled the lead, but her powerful effort went wide of the frame by inches as the visitors continued with their great start.

Lady Cardinals’ Shadia Nankya made a timely block to keep the visitors in the lead midway through the first stanza of the game.

Nakagolo doubled the visitors’ lead with a beautiful curling effort, leaving Lady Doves’ custodian totally beaten at the moment.

The visitors held on to their 2-0 lead into the break as the fight for bragging rights went on.

Pamela Nalugemwa’s quick feet gave Lady Doves’ backline a lot of challenges as she kept them busy all evening.

The hosts pulled back one in the 80th minute, but it was not enough to pick something positive out of the game.

However, the focus will shift to the league as the Lady Cardinals are still fighting for survival with two games to play.

    How they lined up

UCU Lady Cardinals XI: Barbra Natasha (GK), Phiona Atimaku, Maureen Mukisa, Sarah Abonyo, Harima Kanyago, Catherine Nakiridde ©, Cathy Nassimbwa, Jovia Nakagolo, Sandra Kisakye, and Pamela Nalugemwa
