One good turn deserves another! It was smiles and celebrations at Kati Kati Restaurant, Lugogo, as the University Football League celebrated its most outstanding athletes and officials in the previous campaign.
UCU Cardinals captain Goefrey Gaganga was the star of the day scooping two individual awards before he was also named in the UFL team of the 2023/24 season.
Gaganga was also named the midfielder of the campaign as well as included in the Best Eleven of the season.
Despite losing the final 3-1 to Nkumba University, Gaganga was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the recent season shaking off competition from Nkumba’s skipper Kennedy Sewankambo and Micheal Abura of St Lawrence University.
Gaganga disclosed that getting the award is exciting, but it’s also a result of hard work and attaining extra moments on the field of play.
“Being awarded means that you have been working hard, you have been doing something great, maybe not better than other players but at least there are extra moments you have been getting at the pitch,” he stated.
“Another thing, it’s exciting to win something, but as a player, when you win something, that means it’s a debit, and it requires you to work harder. As a player, now my main aim is to join the Uganda Premier League,” he added.
