UCU Lady Doves stretched their unbeaten run in the second round of the National Volleyball League with a composed 3-1 win over defending champions Sport-S in a fixture played at Sport-S grounds in Nambya on 8th February.
The university side controlled the match from the start and took the first set 25-18 with strong serving and steady reception. They kept their momentum in the second set, edging Sport-S 25-23 in a closely contested set to move two sets ahead.
Sport-S responded in the third set and capitalised on UCU’s errors to win it 25-19, but the Lady Doves quickly regained control. They closed out the match with a 10-point difference and a 25-15 finish, showing sharp coordination and discipline in the final stretch. The win strengthened their push for a top finish as the league intensifies.
On the men’s side, the UCU Doves secured a much-needed 3-1 victory against Kampala University Volleyball Club. The result came at an important time after two tough back-to-back 3-0 losses to Police Volleyball Club and Nemostars. The Doves showed improved teamwork and resilience, using the win to stabilise their form as they push to recover in the standings.
The performance marked an important response for both UCU teams. The Lady Doves maintained their strong second round form, while the Doves picked up their first win of the round and regained confidence ahead of their next fixtures.
