    Students praise improvements at restaurant

A month after The Standard reported about complaints over the service provided at different restaurants on the campus, students say they now see some improvements. Previously, the complaints included poor structure, leaking roofs, and shaking tables. However, a number said the recent upgrades at Touch of Class restaurant have made the place look and feel better. The improvements include the replacement of shaky tables with new long ones designed for comfort and repairs to previously leaking areas.

Chloe Nantezza, a second-year social work student, frequently dines at Touch of Class and has noticed the positive changes. “The tables have been fixed and are now stable,” she shared. Many students agree that the improvements have significantly improved the atmosphere at the restaurant.

Another student, who chose to remain anonymous, praised the quality of the food. “It’s really delicious,” he said. He encouraged his peers to appreciate the progress made, noting that even well-known restaurants like KFC occasionally face challenges. “There are days when things don’t go as planned,” he said.

Cissy Namemba, the proprietor of Touch of Class, highlighted her commitment to continuous improvement. She explained that she makes it a priority to renovate her establishment each semester. “Every semester, I try to implement small renovations based on feedback from students,” she noted. The decision to introduce long tables came from suggestions made by two students, and the aim is to accommodate larger groups.

Namemba said that each new table can seat about 20 students, fostering a more communal dining experience. She also revealed that plans are in motion to relocate the restaurant soon, which limits the extent of current renovations. “We are not allowed to make significant changes since the university will be constructing a new dining area for us,” she said.
